After yesterday’s long trip we took it easier today. It was after 9:30 by the time we got moving and walked across the road for breakfast. We decided that we would organise a Walking Dead tour for the afternoon and walk down to The World of Coke for the remainder of the morning.
The World of Coke has certainly changed since the last time we were here. It has grown somewhat, and become a lot more commercialised as well. The modest charm of the old building has gone, and the brash, almost arrogant is in. The subtleness of what made the older version appealing has all disappeared. It now seemed, tacky. Unfortunate. Also, I remember it being free. Not anymore. There is a bit to see, and they have added some new sections to it, but these are things such as a vault which apparently holds the original script of the recipe. OTT.
We did spend some time (well, the kids did) trying the different flavours from around the world, and Matt tried about 6 different flavours of Fanta.
We walked to a nearby hotel and tried to get a wheelchair accessible taxi. Apparently 15 minutes means about an hour in Atlanta when it comes to taxis. As such, we moved our tour to tomorrow, before heading to Savannah. As we were over near Olympic Park, we went off to the Georgia Aquarium. It was massive. There was a section on rivers, the artic, the coral coast and a big, BIG tank. Big enough to hold a group of manta rays and four whale sharks. The aquarium took the rest of the afternoon to cover and we grabbed dinner on the way back to the hotel.
