We leave our Sahara camp and bus to tinghir, a modern Moroccan city. We saw the oasis surrounded by the city from the tordra gorge in the high atlas mountains. After viewing the gorge and checking into our hotel, we went to the hammam for a 'cleansing'. It was quite an experience. We are now exfoliated and very clean! Ha. Tomorrow is our day in the life of a Moroccan.

Today we started by visiting a more lower class home and had tea with a widow named Fatima. That was in a village named risanti. Risanti is an area rich in jurassic fossils and we visited the place where the cut and polish the fossils in to stones. The fossils are very visible in the stone. We had an all day bus ride with many stops. We began in saines plains and quickly climbed to the middle atlas mountains. One of our many stops was for our 'discovery' to visit a nomad family. At home were the grandfather, his daughter and his grandchild of about 18 months. His sons were out tending sheep. We were invited into the hut for bread and tea. Today started with the best breakfast so far cooked by the family, Moroccan pancakes and frittata. Our first stop was to the mellah, the Jewish neighborhood. This neighborhood is noted for the andulasian balconies. During its time it was a significant part of Moroccan culture. Jews in morocco have always lived in harmony with Muslims. We left Rabat for the day long journey to fes, another imperial capital, known for spiritualism. Our 'discovery' today was a spontaneous stop at a roadside stand where chickens, turkeys, juju nuts and dried thyme were sold. We visited Fatima and her modest house where she cooked us fresh scrambled eggs and thyme. We had the opportunity to ask questions about her life and family.
