Cindy Aserkoff's Travels
We had an all day bus ride with many stops. We began in saines plains and quickly climbed to the middle atlas mountains. One of our many stops was for our 'discovery' to visit a nomad family. At home were the grandfather, his daughter and his grandchild of about 18 months. His sons were out tending sheep. We were invited into the hut for bread and tea. Not much in the hut, a small cooking stove, a loom, and believe it or not cushions enough for all of us to sit. there was a battery operated tv. When it is time to move they call a man on their cell phone who comes with a pickup truck to move their stuff. Their current living space is closed up until they return. The scenery is breathtaking. Mountains that remind you of the 7 bens in Ireland, Utah, and the southwest. After lunch we cIimbed to the high atlas mountains. Yet again the terrain changed with high mountains, gorges, and oases by the river. All told we were on the road all day, arriving here around 6:30 Tomorrow we go to our camp in the desert.
