The journey back from Guatemala to Costa Rica was a little bit difficult. First, I undertook one of the bizarrest transactions I've ever done - taking out 500 Quetzales of an ATM in Guatemala City Airport, then exchanging 400 of it for American Dollars, and 100 for Mexican Pesos.
The flight was late (as in, it was on time, but late in the day) adding to just how knackered I was on making it to San Jose. What followed was a stressy attempt to try find my transfer. The transfer driver, arranged through the hostel, clearly wasn't there and so I was accosted by another hostel's airport transfer shuttle. Perhaps?
I don't know, I'm very confused about what happened last night, all I know is that whilst I paid a fair price for the transfer (25USD - cheaper than a taxi), I lost my Caxton card. But at the very least, that Caxton card was expiring in less than a month so it's hardly the end of the world.
It's kinda disappointing to spend my last day in San Jose. I've just come from a walk around the centre and it appears all the museums are either ridiculously overpriced or under rennovation. It's a strange city, endless concrete peppered with the occasional nice-looking colonial building. It's dull.
I'm also absolutely knackered. But at least I'm feeling vindicated for my decision to chose Guatemala over Costa Rica. It's an expensive, over-rated country this.
I'm at a loss with what to do with the rest of the day, now the rains have closed in. Maybe another lil walk around. Still, sad that its all ending and about the slightly sour ending.
Vamos!
