Last night was a great last saturday night in La Paz. Despite Rodrigo being difficult for sake of being difficult, as per usual, and not allowing Marion's friends to come to our BX house for drinks, it was still a great evening. The day started disappointingly. I headed to my favourite nearby cafe, Typica, for an overpriced (but nice) fruity empanada for a rather unsuccessful call home that largely consisted of me seeing the ears of various family members. After a couple hours of being bored to death in the house, we (me and fellow interns, Charlie and Rafaela) headed to Plaza Espana for lunch. Today I went on a very long, hot walk. La Paz has baked under the high altitude sun and the hills and altitude make any walk seem twice as long. Still, it's nice to be cold for once! Managed to get some Peruvian Soles, at a rate pretty much identical to the official rate (200 Bolivianos = 94 Soles) thanks to get my money from the Cholitas opposite the touristic Calle Sagarnaga. It was then a slog up a rather unsavoury district of La Paz to get to the cemetery....

The last couple days have been very uneventful and relaxed. A bit of a theme is developing here...luckily it's not going to last long. My Spanish lessons were moved to 11:30 and I got a new teacher, Lis, for my last 2 Spanish lessons. We've mostly been focused on the past imperfect tense - so basically how you say things that happened regularly in the past as opposed to happened once/were one event. Just 5 more days in Bolivia. 5! In a week's time I'll be in Lima! Time goes by so quick and a big part of me can't really imagine leaving this place. La Paz feels so much like home now. I feel so familiar and safe in Sopocachi and the surrounds. Whilst when I first arrived in this city I felt unsafe walking around, now I feel like I can walk around the whole city. La Paz is a much better city to live in like this than visit as a tourist. I'll miss how cheap it is...
