A very early and tardish start to today after our bigger than planned night last night at Scallwags....
Our booked car picked us up at 6am for the JFK airport for our flight to San Juan.
No problems checking in - even with our additional suitcase - although we did have to pay $40 for the extra suitcase- and we went through customs no problem.
A quick bite to eat at the airport and our 3 and three quarter hour flight here took off on time.
The flight was fine - despite being dog tired I did not get any sleep instead I watched Spider-Man 3 on the plane - it was funny watching it as it was filmed around the streets of NY and I could identify a lot of the scenes.
Arrived here in San Juan about 1.30 local time and now have a 3 hour wait for our flight to Tortola
Had some lunch and now we are sitting at local bar drinking margaritas.... I hope we make it onto the plane.
We have arranged for Brad to pick us up from the airport when we arrive and we are both looking forward to getting there, enjoying some warm weather, catching up with everyone and relaxing... it has been a hectic two weeks and we are not sure we can keep the pace up!!!
The attached photo was taken at the airport and shows you where Tortola is relative to San Juan.
It will be a small plane taking is there..... As it is only a 45 minute flight.
After the plane left from the wrong gate at Puerto Rico we were happy to be on the right flight....
We landed in Tortola and after a small delay waiting for our bags headed out to find Brad - who had offered to pick us up from the airport. We walked out the front - but no Brad..... We called him, but no answer.... At this point in time you have that sinking feeling that something is not quite right.
It was at that moment that Brett appeared and picked us up - it turned out that Brad was delayed in Miami and hasn't arrived yet - even though he was suppose to arrive earlier than us.....
As it has turned out a number of visitors for the wedding have had their travel plans disrupted so we did well to get here!!!!
Brett took us to Road Town where we had to wait for Brad to arrive via a ferry. After waiting for Brad Nadeen and I caught a taxi to the part of the island where we are staying and Brett and Brad followed in their car - as there was not enough room for us all.
After picking up the keys to the villa we finally arrived and was greeted by Evelyn who manages the property.
The place is sensational - we can't wait for morning to appreciate how stunning this place is..... We were welcomed with a cold beer, so it could not get any better than that....
Already Nadeen and I have had a swim - and it was at 10pm!!!! The water in the pool is really warm - we can see we are going to spend a lot of time around that pool....
We are now waiting for Tony and Heather to arrive and then the fun will begin.....
