Christinas travels!
This was probably my favourite island that I went to in Thailand. It had the most gorgeous beaches and also had lots of nice bars to chill out in the evening. Everynight you would sit on the beach and the bars would have fire shows and fun and games. There was no cars/motorbikes allowed on the Island so it was very peaceful after having been in Bangkok... I went on numerous boat trips after getting to know Aladdin who was one of the most friendly Thai people I met. Most of the trips included visiting the beach where the movie the beach was filmed and everynight there was a bar showing the movie but I didnt actually sit down and watch it but will when I get home. This Island was badly damaged by the tsunami however you would not know if you stick to the beaches near the hotels and bars on one side. However if you walk to another side there are areas where it is demolished and there are lots of volunteers from all over the world helping the local people to rebuild their homes and businesses. They have now warning systems monitoring if there is an earthquake alert which might affect Thailand and loud speaker systems on all beaches and routes to take if anything happens again.
