Christinas travels!
Ive had a few issues with my crown and also my zip broke on my bag so decided it would be best to get back up to Bangkok. So I have visited a very nice dentist who I think has sorted out my tooth and considering I was there 4 hours it was only 25 pounds. I have also bought a new bag as it is so much cheaper here that down where I was in Koh Phangan. So I have decided to go to Singapore for a few days as I have some time spare and I had to change planes there anyway on the way down to Australia. It was so easy to change my flight dates I went into Singapore Airlines office and she simply said would I like a morning or evening flight for Singapore and also what would I like for Australia and there was no charge. I fly to Singapore on Thurs and then to Australia on Sunday. As I had time to kill in Bangkok for a couple of days I decided to get my hair highlighted as there is a Toni and Guy here - So no I havent turned into a hippie traveller as I have also had it cut in Phuket. Everything was fine until a ladyboy was given the job of removing the foils and then he/she proceeded to give me a massage that seemed to go on forever...excuses were made in the end how I was rushed for time as it was all very weird.
In the evening I met up with some people who had been in Koh Phangan and we went for dinner at the State Tower. There is an open aired restaurant called Sirocco and you go up 64 floors to get to the top of the building and then you are just standing on the top of this building with the most incredible view as you can see Bangkok lit up at nightime - even though it cost 5 pounds for a drink which is more that my room for the night!! It is all very sophisticated and nobody is allowed in with shorts or flipflops and there is a jazz band playing whilst you have dinner looking down on Bangkok.
It is New Years Day today in Thailand and its like a massive street party everywhere which is nice for my last day here. Thailand is probably the only country in the world where New Year is celebrated three times every year-January 1, the Chinese New Year in February and the Thai New Year or Songkran in April.
It is actually very religious here and they pay homage to Buddha images, clean their houses, and sprinkle water everywhere in a show of respect so they tell me.
