The next morning its not funny at all. For unknown reasons Beth wakes me at 9am and it feels like there are skewers through my head. It hurts a lot. She wakes me up a couple of hours later. It still hurts, I go back to sleep. She wakes me up to tell me that she and the two Canadian guys we know are going to the Imperial Palace. So I get up. Have my usual cheesy toast - Japan does a good cheesy toast and its cheap - and coffee and feel better. So we enter the Imperial Palace area from the north - Kitanomaru Koen which is a nice garden with cherry trees in blosson. See some pretty mighty gates which are left over from the northern citadel of Edo (Tokyo) Castle. We didnt mean to go this way but we let the Canadians navigate. Go figure. We see the science museum and the martial arts centre which is hosting a rock concert but we dont go into either, were very busy people.. We carry on until we get to the East Garden, the gate of which used to be the main gate to Edo Castle. The walls are huge and theres a moat around the edge. We mustve spent hours in this garden it was lovely - lovely big lawn in the centre and an exhibition showing before and after shots to show what it wouldve been like. We saw an exhibition of works celebrating Mt Fuji. Then we decided it was all to much work and most definately lunchtime. Without seeing the Imperial Palace...
Excellent bright orange sweet and sour for lunch which ill admit is more Chinese. It was fun though as the waitress was clearly in love with the Kevin the Canadian and giggled a lot.
In the evening we went to pick up something snacky and some beers. I inadvertently ordered liver, Kevin came in from where he'd been ordering food and went oh no!!! you ordered that one, its liver and its horrible!! so i took it back to the kitchen and handed it back to them giving them the international - see that - theres no way im eating it. They were very understanding and didnt charge me. I had pork instead. My Kirin beer was good but in the hostel they were watching back to the future so I went to bed. No excuse for that film. Whatsoever. Turns out they then watched 2 and 3 as well so it was a lucky escape.
