I have now left the cold weather of Nepal, spent a lovely 9 hours in Mumbai Airport and have finally arrived in Thailand. Arriving here is actually quite a shock to the system. I really did not have much of an idea about what Thailand would be like but I was not expecting this. Coming from such under developed countries it was lovely to arrive somewhere with tarmac roads, nice cars and modern buildings. The weather here also makes a nice change; I have gone from jumpers and down jackets to shorts and vest tops.
The plan for Bangkok is to stay here for 3 nights in a hostel near the famous Khao San Road, with my friend Steve from home and then head off to Pattaya for a relaxing stay by the beach over Christmas. Again it is just so lovely to meet friends from home while you're travelling around, finding out what they have been up to and getting ideas of where to go next. You can also relax a bit as it just feels safe being around people you know you can trust.
I did a little bit of sight seeing in Bangkok, around a few temples and to the Golden Mount. I also went to MBK the huge shopping centre and saw The Life of Pi at the cinema. After coming from Nepal paying £5 seems extortionate but at least it is still cheaper than home. I am fairly certain I will be returning to Bangkok on many occasions as I travel around South East Asia, so I have plenty of time to see the sights here. But for the moment I will just relax and enjoy the touristy areas for what they are.
