Day 19 ... Checked out a little independent second-hand english bookstore/coffee shop a few doors down from my hostel. As i walked in i could hear Eddie Vedder on the radio! Upside down pyramid for lunch... an office block/apartment building that resembles an upside down pyramid. Looks like a baddies lair from a Bond film! Watched the Arsenal v Liverpool in a hockey-themed sports bar. Hockey is the national sport. 2 hour walking tour in the afternoon. Learnt about the origins of Slovakia and their struggles to gain independence from Hungary, then the Germans, and then their 'velvet divorce' from Czechoslovakia. UFO bar on the New Bridge in the late afternoon. A bar/restaurant with observation deck above a bridge, above the Danube. Great views of the traditional old buildings and castle built by the Slovaks on one side if the river, and rows and rows of grey communist tower blocks built during years of Soviet Union leadership. Had dinner. Booked accommodation and flight to Dubrovnik. Bed.
