Greetings!
Another last minute trip that was great. On New Years Day we booked a day trip to the Grampian Mountains (hills if you're from Canada).....mount hills?!
When a bus finally showed up we nearly ended up on another trip to the Great Ocean Road with some miserable looking people! Still hung-over from NYE?
Our tour was much better, an eclectic mix including people from USA, Sri Lanka, Holland, Japan, India, Austria and Russia.
First stop was for some long overdue Kangaroo spotting in Halls Gap. They didn't take much spotting, we walked about 100m from the car park and there were 20 of the blighters, we can now confirm Kangaroos do exist! Apparently there are Emu's in the Grampians too but wasn't lucky enough to see one (No Rod Hull and Emu jokes please!)
Looked through an Aboriginal Cultural centre which was pretty boring to be honest, It was one of the main things we wanted to see so glad we had lots on the tour to make up for it.....
Halls Gap is a really nice place nestled in the mount hills, we met some flies on a table and they stayed around for Lunch! After being last back on the bus (cue frowns from the UN assembly waiting for us) we set off for Boroka Lookout.
As you can tell by the pics, its pretty spectacular, great views from all the lookout points and the weather was great (we left storms behind in Melbourne).
The driver/guide Pete also turned into our personal photographer as he loved our camera and wanted to play with it as much as possible!
After hiking back up from the spectacular McKenzie Falls (spectacular considering how dry the rest of Victoria seems to be) we ditched half the group at Halls Gap as they were going on a 3 day trip with another bus and we started the long trip home
A great day trip, it seems the hastier we organise them the better they are!!
Ciao for now x
