We finally made it back to Rio alter our encounter with the Americans in the taxi, we checked back into the Brazil Hostel as it was good the first time we were there. It was quite late and we were about to be boring farts and go straight to bed we two of the people that worked there invited us and everyone else to some massive samba party thing that happens every week, we decided to go along and it was actually pretty good, highlight being some proper private schooled English t*** making a fool out of himself dancing like he was some ghetto gangster from Compton avenue. He had convinced himself that the Brazilians were loving his amazing new dance, some other English guy in our group actually asked him to stop embarrassing himself, which he didn't enjoy to much. Stayed there till about 4 and headed back to the hostel for some sleep.
We have flights booked to Ecuador at 5 in the morning so decided to do nothing to strenuous today, was thinking about doing the hang gliding over Rio but unfortunately the wind isn't right and it cant be done today.Instead w caught the bus down to Ipanema beach and walked along there and then back through Copacabana, Brid bought some souvenirs as per usual.Got back to the hostel and found out that the Rio derby (Botofogo vs Flamengo) was on in the Maracana that night, decided to head to the stadium with a head of other folk from the hostel, annoying some of them didn't have a clue about football, so were farting about, was ready to run away from them at one point as we weren't sure if we'd make it to the game on time. Saw 4 poor Botafogo fans, who were all young girls coming in the wrong gate at the stadium and about 100 nice flamengo fans letting them know they'd come the wrong way by spitting all over them and throwing pretty much anything they could find beside them. The stadium wasn't as packed as I thought it might be, it held 200,000 people in the 1950 world cup but is now a 100,000 all seater, there was only 40,000 people there, no so good for a major city derby, also for a country that thinks its football mad. Game was pretty good although it pretty obvious all the good Brazilians leave for Europe as no one on the pitch could shoot straight, Darren Mackie would have scored a hat trick in this game, some of the sitters missed were shocking!!
Headed back to the hostel via McDonalds and headed for bed as we had to be up really early in the morning.
