Up early in the morning to catch our flight back to La Paz, the airline had changed our flights back a couple of hours without telling us so we had a couple of extra hours to waste in rurrenabaque so we wasted them stuffing our faces with breakfast. The flight was really bumpy on the way back and to top it off some blonde Israeli girl let go a proper stinky fart, the plane was so small it was disgusting, I thought brid was gonna throw up at one point!! Tried to check into the same hostel as last time but we didn't reserve a room so we headed round the corner to the wild rover's hostel which is like a magnet for Irish people. Pretty much everyone there apart from me was irish. Just to indulge ourselves in the Bolivian culture again we headed off to burger king to get quadruple burgers, was starving and it went down a treat. We were feeling pretty lazy so brid me and the Dutch guy that was with us decided to go to the cinema to see Hancock, was good to actually watch a film, we hadn't sat and watched TV in ages.
Next day we took a half day trip to a place outside La Paz called Tiwanaku which was the home of early Bolivian settlers or something like that. Out guide was amusing but not in a funny kind of way, if he realised your weren't looking at him he would shout " pay attention, this is important" it was like being back at school. I'll give the guy his dues he knew his stuff but it was borderline to much information, I felt like I was slipping into a coma at one point before I was told "PAY ATTENTION". Had some llama for lunch before heading back to La Paz to catch the bus. Heading up to the cemetary district to catch the bus to Copacabana, which unfortunately isn't the beach one, but one beside lake Titicaca. We missed the tourist bus as it only ran in the morning so we caught the local bus, which cost us a grand total of a 1pound for a 4hr journey, as soon as we stepped out the taxi we were mobbed by touts, even after we had bought our tickets they were still trying to sell us more, why I would need 4 tickets to go to the same place I don't know!! The bus was not bad for a pound, we were looking at the map wondering how we'd get to Copacabana as its practically an island as the border of Peru cuts it off from Bolivia. We arrived at a small town and we could see Copacabana on the horizon over the water, wondering what was going on the bus drove onto a small boat that was not mu7ch bigger than the bus itself. I was a bit weird as we would probably have preferred to get off the bus and take a boat but we didn't get much choice. Arrived in Copacabana quite late and we needed food so headed off to the only restaurant that looked open, big mistake. My burger took about 15days to arrive and my drink about another 2 days, we were served by a kid who was about 6 years old. This kid didn't even have the memory of a goldfish, it was 10x worse than that, if you asked his for something he'd forget it before he'd even reached the kitchen, we eventually made it out about 2hrs later and headed for some sleep.
