Right then,
Friday 26th (we think) we took a 4 hour bus journey from Saigon back up to Mui Ne. We chose to miss this place out but when we drove through on our journey from Nha Trang to Saigon but it looked bloody nice so we decided to take a three day 'break from the city' hehe
Landed at 12pm at a place called The Watering Hole, a place we were directed to by a Scottish lass the night before in a pub in Saigon. It was $7 per night which we though was ok, however when we got into the place $7 was cheap! We had a beach side bungalow which was about 25 meters to the beach! The hotel had a pet monkey, a dog, loads of fish and rabbits!! We spent the afternoon lazing on the beach, having a beer at sunset and playing with the hotels brown Labrador pup, who Deborah so aptly named 'Little Chocolate Drop'. Great fun! We stayed at the practically deserted hotel that night, had some tea (which turned out to be practically raw fish and mash) played some pool, few beers and to bed because we were both knackered!
Next morning we got up and had a wander along the main road which pretty much was the whole of Mui Ne!!! We got some brekkie and booked a tour to go and see all of the local attractions! Was 10 dollars each - which is pretty steep, but then again we did have a personal driver in a Land Rover!! Our first stop was the White Sandunes where as soon as we got out the jeep, a little kid wandered up with two boards under his arms, and asked us to follow!!! We got into the sand dunes and it was the most incredible fine sand ever. We headed up one of the dunes and the young guide put the boards down and we went SAND SLEDGING!!!! It was quality; the young lad was sand surfing down the things!!! While debs was chatting with the little guy I wandered off - I saw someone had wrote RUSSIA in huge letters in the sand, so I went and attempted to better them by writing CHRIS AND DEBS!! I think I won!!!!
We headed back to the jeep (on the way I gave the guide about 50p) and set off to the Canyon! This place was well good, no Grand Canyon, but still pretty smart! We climbed around this place bare foot (as the whole thing was made of sand) and got some snaps. We wandered around amazed for a while and then headed back to the car to continue our trip! We headed to the Red Sand dunes, which amazingly enough was very similar to the first ones (just red) and didn't really stay too long - but headed on to the 'fairy stream'!
This was a stream, which was only about an inch deep, so you could wander down (accompanied by water spiders) and take in the surroundings which were spectacular!!! See the pics!
When we got back we went for a dip in the sea, had some tea and got showered and ready to head out!! Got yet another pizza and went to the 'Pogo bar' which was also recommended by the scottish lass! The place was really quiet but we met a few French and just sat on the beach or in hammocks and had some drinks!!!
Really enjoyed Mui Ne - was a right chilled out place, we are both glad we came back up for the sake of a fiver!!! Headed back to Saigon at 2pm fully refreshed and ready to face the madness of Saigon again!!!
Over and out xxxxxxxxxxxxx
