Chris and Carol's World Trip
We have taken a couple of trips out this week, with some of the people from the Spanish school. Restinga National Park is a wildlife sanctuary in the north of the island - though birds and seahorses were the only things we were able to spot. It had a fantastic beach and the scenery was breathtaking - check out the photo.
We have also ventured out to experience some of the latin night life. As you would expect it doesn´t really get started until after midnight. The Latin Bar had a live band and plenty of Salsa going on.
We are now preparing to head off at the weekend, back to the mainland. This has meant taking on a whole new attitude to queueing - we waited an hour at the local ferry office to purchase our ticket to Puerto Cruz. It seems that just about everyone is leaving Margarita Island this weekend as there is a National Referendum on the question of whether President Chavez should stay in office and everyone is going back home to ensure that they get their vote.
From Puerto la Cruz, we head south by road to Ciudad Bolivar - where we will stay for a few days whilst arranging our trip to Angel Falls.
