Wow, Wow, Wow. Angel falls was absolutely stunning. The day begins with a flight from the local airport here into the jungle which forms part of the protected area called Canaima. The airstrip is basically a clearing in the jungle, big enough to take a six seater plane. The 'terminal' has a palm thatched roof so that gives you and idea of how small it is. It's taken us the best part of a day to get to Ciudad Bolivar, crossing back to the mainland by ferry and then by road. In true Venezuelan style, the bus broke down en route and we had visions of having to camp out in the middle of nowhere. We have taken a couple of trips out this week, with some of the people from the Spanish school. Restinga National Park is a wildlife sanctuary in the north of the island - though birds and seahorses were the only things we were able to spot. We have now moved to the south of the Island to a place called Pampatar, nothing more than a smalll fishing village. Its where the Spanish school is based and we have enrolled for 2 weeks. We are staying in a place where we are the only English speakers. It makes communication fun and riddled with pointing fingers and walking around with a dictionary all the time. Hello Everyone This is our first update, so you can take it that we arrived safely. Who said the Hosey's are lucky - got upgraded on BA to Club Class. With that good luck, we're going to have a good time! Currently on the beach writing this in a web cafe. It's hot, sunny and the sea is crystal clear. And even better, the beer is 10p a go!!
