Saturday night, I got on a plane and made my way to Rome. The flight was delayed and the baggage as well - by the time I navigated my way through public transit and to my hostel, it was about midnight.
Sunday, I was completely exhausted. The late night and the past week's partying were taking a toll on me. Seeing as it was Sunday and mostly everything was closed, I had a nice relaxing day at the hostel, uploading photos and catching up on some tv shows.
Monday, I accompanied another hostel guest on an outing to the beach. We set out to go, but the metro was randomly closed - an occurrence I hear happens quite frequently in the city. Instead, we spent the afternoon lounging by a lake in a park - another relaxing day.
Today I decided I should actually do some touristy things; seeing as I am in Rome after all. I walked around the Colosseum and then made my way to Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps, now I'm just lounging in the Bourghese gardens - a very beautiful and relaxing place. It's amazing how Rome exists as a huge metropolis with ancient ruins all over the city; it's quite amazing to just walk around and see the juxtaposition of old and new everywhere.
I'm just having a nice easy day, I know I'll be returning to Rome in the coming days with Mom and Jamie, who arrive in Italy tomorrow morning!! I cannot express how excited I am to see my wonderful family!
