Yesterday, I made my way from my hostel in Rome to the Airport. I went to arrivals and waited anxiously at the gate. After about 45 minutes of waiting, I finally saw two very familiar faces. I jumped back the barrier and gave Mom and Jamie two enormous hugs; I couldn't believe I was actually seeing them in the flesh after almost six months apart. It was funny that I knew that time had passed - and mom said that my whole attitude was different - and yet it felt like I had never been away. We made our way to the car rental area, and after sorting through a few complications with the rental company, we were on the road! The car luckily came with a GPS, so we were able to find our hotel with only a few hiccups along the way.
We arrived at our hotel shortly after three o'clock. It is so beautiful! It's a villa resort-style hotel, right on the Mediterranean Sea - the view from our room is to die for, and the sound of the water makes falling asleep so easy (I would definitely say this is a step up from my hostel living!). Later in the evening, we enjoyed a delicious meal at the hotel's restaurant. We each enjoyed our antipasto (first course) and pasto (main course) followed by a shared dessert. After such a filling meal, and a long day, we called it an early night and slept soundly to the crashing waves.
Today, we woke up and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, we drove into to town and set off to explore. We started by walking up a steep hill to the Medieval part of town - it was so beautiful with winding streets and old brick work. The main square of medieval town is paved with huge slabs of marble - this is an old style of town square that can only be found in Terracina.
Once we made our way down from the medieval part of town into the new town. We enjoyed some gelato (Mom and Jamie's first gelato!) and walked the shopping streets of the beachy town. Mom and I each bought a sun dress. From there, we drove up to the temple of Jupiter Anxur: an ancient roman temple on top of a Mountain. The site is mostly in ruins, but they had great information about what each building was used for and when it was constructed - some of the buildings dates back to the 4th century BC!
We worked up quite an appetite from all of our adventuring - so we grabbed some lunch in town - pizza of course! We enjoyed our Italian pizza and cold beer and then headed back to the hotel for a swim in the sea and a little siesta before dinner - just about to head out now!

fran Hi Chloe I bet the resort is a "step up from hostel living". I'm not surprised your "attitude" has changed. New environment will do that. And starting with a wonderful attitude too I bet this adventure has just enhanced it. Can't wait to be part of it.
