A late breakfast today before jumping in a taxi and heading to Vancouvers beautiful Staney Park. It covers around 404 hectares or 1000 acres. It is like a green oasis in the middle of the city. You see it all, mountains, the city, old trees, beach, city views, yachts as well as cultural and historical landmarks. We caught a horse drawn trolley car for an hour long trip. This park is where you see the first nation Totem poles, each telling their own story. A rose garden that was fully inbloom including a long arbour was just beautiful. A cricket match was underway as well. Lots of people visitors at the park today as it is the first day of summer holidays here. Trolley ride took around an hour....we did lose one of party at the totems.....who then had to run around the park to catch up with us again......sorry L!!! Inside the park is the Vancouver aquarium. We were there for about 3 hours and so totally worth it. They had a new exhibit of Jellyfish that so could sit and watch for hours. Had my first 4D movie experience, watching a movie about the annual summer salmon run....had water splashes, bubbles, moving theatre seats, it was great. Saw beluga whales, white and small but very intelligent. A gorgeous otter who laid on his back the whole show munching on an ice block with a prawn frozen in side. An amazon rain Forrest
that had the most beautiful butterflies and birds, monkeys, frogs. It was in constant mist of water to maintain the humidity. Excited children every where, you could tell everyone enjoyed it. Back to hotel for our Globus Tour meet and greet, then over to The Lion again for drinks and dinner. Tour proper starts tomorrow.
Photo today is the view from our room, not too shabby.
