We finally arrived in Vancouver after a day of flying and sitting around airports at around 1am in the morning. Traveled in style to our hotel via stretch limousine...yes...cheaper than 3 taxis when you are transporting 8 people. The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel is beautiful. We are on the 14th floor and have views of the port. We had a couple of drinks at the bar, thank you bar man, Frank, who stayed open for us. Then to bed. Woke to find Louise from our group not well and Rex not real good either so they both had a rest day. The other 8 of us took ourselves off to Grouse Mountain, the highest mountain in Vancouver. A skyride gondola took us to the peak where we enjoyed a lumberjack show, saw our first grizzly bears. It was a very foggy morning which was a shame so we had very limited views of things. Had the nicest hot chocolate you could imagine then headed back down the mountain to catch the shuttle bus to Capilano Suspension Bridge. This wonderful bridge and tree walk are set amongst a rainforest of Douglas Fir Trees.
It is 140 Metres long and 70 metres high and is suspended over the Capilano River. It was a great way to spend the rest of the afternoon. By the time we arrived back at the hotel, Rex had been on reconnaissance and located a pub just around the corner where we had drinks and ended staying on for dinner. Sun set is late, we all went to bed around 10pm and the sun was just going down. News is full of the flooding in Calgary....a little concerned, however meet with our Tour Guide tomorrow so should know more.
