Have been trouble posting to facebook so will see how this goes. Our last day in Vancouver was the first day of our Globus tour. We took a bus ride around Vancouver again, but with our new traveling companions. It was well worth as we saw fhe historic Gas Town, many of the buildings used for fhe Olympics. Vancouver is a very clean city. Homeless people do track you down with a good story and try you out for some money or cigarettes. We had a lovely dinner at a restaurant called Cactus Club. Rex got the steak he was craving. A great night. Home to bed to prepare for an early start on the Rocky Mountaineer only to wake at 10.30 by the fire alarm. Building was evacuated. Someone onthe 10th floor had set the alarm off no fire thank god.
After an early start we boarded the train in raining conditions. Not cold but damp. We are travelling in a Gold Leaf carriage which has a glass dome roof so views are wonderful. All we did all day was eat, drink and gaze out zt the magnificent Rocky Mountains. Water flow was strong due to the recent flooding. The cloudy conditions were a little disappointing but we hope for a sunny day tomorrow. We arrived in Kamloops around 5pm. We are staying in the town centre but won't get to see much of fhe town. We were greeted by a horseman prancing around outskde the rail station which was nice. Dinner at the Noble Pig was great. I tried Poutine....a Canadian take on chips and gravy, but with melted cheese too....no complaints. A Tim Horton hot chocolate and it is now time to sleep. More train tomorrow. Tracks are flood damaged so will have to bus the final leg to Banff. Good night.
