Day 6 - Beijing to Bangkok
Man oh man way TOO much flying for my liking in the past few days! We headed off to the airport and boarded out Air China flight to Bangkok! As most of you know I hate hate flying but its gotta be done! we arrived into Bangkok at around 7pm and made our way to Koh San Road the main backpacker hangout in Bangkok
Already the humidity level was 95% and 34 deg celcius, quite a difference to Beijing at -2! we are staying at the cutest guesthouse just off Koh San Road called Shambara lodge (thanks Kim and Mark for the awesome recommendation!) We headed up Koh San Road which doesnt sleep at all to find some food as I just adore thai cuisine! as we stopped at one of the restaurants we were speaking afrikaans (so as to avoid all the hagglers) (well I was trying to speak afrikaans anyway!) and a guy sitting down started asking us in afrikaans where we are from (us Saffas get everywhere!) anyway ends up he is from Stellenbosch teaching English here and so were a whole bunch of his mates, soo we sat drinking Chang beer and eating pad thai with them the rest of the evening! SMALL WORLD!
4.15am and we had 2 alleycats that had gotten access to the landing right outside our door and were trying to kill each other there yowling was flipping awful so Sven grabbed a floor pillow and hurled it at them to break up the cat fight! Lots of stray animals which I hate but was to be expected.
Mosquito net up and we slept off the Chang!
Day 7
Lazy day this morning and over breakfast a French guy asked Sven if he was the 'cat hunter' who broke up the fight last night, classic - Sven the Cat Hunter LOL!
After being HASSLED by a gazillion tuk tuk drivers and suitmakers (who the hell would want a suit in 95% humidity??) we made our way to Wat Pho where the massive 45m gold reclining buddha lives! not into Buddhas much but when in Rome.. anyway was interesting to see and the temples are beautiful! Started chucking it down after that so headed back to Kho San Road where lunch consisted of Chicken cashew nut and rice and fresh fruit smoothie deevine
Tonight going to get a nice dinner so cheap cheap here only £4 for 3 beers and dinner! liking travelling like this!
I have been pretty bad with the photos but promise to upload some more!!
