Day 31
Leaving Koh Phi Phi and saying farewell to THE BEACH we boarded our boat to Koh Lanta,
another Thai island but a great deal larger than small Phi Phi! Arriving at the Pier we
didnt have any accomodation booked but I spotted a guy with a board showing some cool
accomodation and flagged him down, luckily they had a bungalow available for one night so
we took it! Arriving at Lanta Castaway resort we checked into a cute wooden bungalow
amidst manicured gardens only steps away from the beach! The whole day we did nothing but
relax, oh and I indulged in my first Thai massage, which involved being stretched and
pulled and massaged but was well worth it afterwards as i felt amazing! For dinner we ate
the most amazing braaied tiger prawns fresh from the ocean and watched the sun set over
Koh Lanta Long Beach. After sunset we decided to go for a walk up the beach, however there
was a bit of an obstacle along the way - a stream with loads of crabs and the odd prawn
swimming in there, and me being the baby I am frieked out slighty about crossing it and in
the process my one beloved flip flop (habianas) got stuck in the sand and proceeded to
float away! OMW I only have one pair of shoes which for me is something! So with no light
we groped around in the crab/prawn infested sand for about 20 minutes before Sven
eventually found it washed up on the side, thank goodness for that, Sven is a keeper!
Day 32
As Castaway resort didnt have any more rooms for today we checked into a small resort just
next door which was very convenient! We also proceeded to do nothing but swim, relax,
drink cocktails and eat more prawns as they were just so good!
Day 33
Onwards to Krabi today and to a backpackers paradise Railay beach, which isnt an island
but along the coast of Thailand. The majority of backpackers go to Railay to abseil off
the huge limestone cliffs which is pretty cool. We checked into Diamond cave resort and
headed off for Phrag nan beach which is one of the nicest in Railay. Along the way we saw
loads of people climbing the cliffs as well as wild monkeys swinging from tree to tree and
trying to steal peoples food from the beach! In the afternoon on our way back we got
caught in a tropical storm and the rain poured down only to leave us looking like drowned
rats! chilling out the rest of the day we enjoyed a bbq at our hotel in the evening which
was a nice end to a pretty wet day!
