YES!!!
TONIGHT WE QUALIFIED for the 2011 FIFA WOMENS WORLD CUP!!!
THANKS TO GILLY'S cool, calm and collected finish. Full credit to everybody, players, staff and supporters. It was a hard fought match. We counter-acted their game with ours- complete and utter brute strength:-) surely there will be more technical lingo thrown about in team meeting's, but ultimately we disrupted their style of play with ours! job well done!
The feeling we all experienced today...Not one word would be able to describe the emotion we felt out there. How your mind, body and soul reacts when something you have wanted soooo badly and worked towards- Being able to celebrate with all your mates, who are all on the exact same page, working together in achieving a dream collectively shared by all. The amount of times i had shivers today, my skin was pretty well 'shivered' for the whole afternoon.
Post game- Celebrations consist of singing and dancing. Cannot forget ICE BATHS and also a lovely dinner at the Sofitel next door. Pizza's and Chocolate fountains-our treat for tonight. Sunday night- a somewhat different treat is in store. A lot of work to do in between now and then. Training tomorrow morning. Training Saturday. Then we face the North Koreans in the FINAL. We've qualified for the World Cup- NOW...why not win this thing too :-)
I cannot sleep. I have always been able to nod off at the drop of a hat- although tonight I'm too hyper. It couldn't possibly be the chocolate i had for desert- that would of worn off hours ago. Thoughts of today racing through my head. Moments like today...again...the natural high- its a phenomenal feeling- one that i have never achieved away from football.
Polky and I...During the game,we had some tape around our wrist. 'PFH' were the initials scribbled on the inside signifying a poem i came across a while ago...
"Somewhere behind the athlete you've become...
The hours of practice,
The Coaches who have pushed you,
The team-mates who have stood by you,
The fans who have cheered for you,
Your family and friends who have supported you,
Is a little girl who felt in love with the game and never looked back...
PLAY FOR HER!"
Sometimes when life feels like its sweeping you away i remind myself of this poem. it's nice.
Now as a result of qualifying we are shaving our coaches moe and dying his hair BLACK. He made the promise 4 months ago. Did he actually think this wouldn't eventuate....? :-/ We are having the ceremony tomorrow afternoon/evening. Will be fun for ALL involved. Apologies to Alison (wife of Tommy) in advance.
GERMANY HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!

Sam Shipard Hi Sall, Congrats on an awesome team effort and on gaining qualification to the world cup! Made "State of Origin" look second rate and we were on the edge of our seats for the whole game. ABC have done an excellent job with the broadcasting of the event and the commentator would of made nan's day by mentioning her in the game (hope she heard it), very special! Might have to start saving for a trip to Germany. Hope everyone recovers well for the final. Give it your best and theres nothing to lose, we'll be cheering for you all and watching with game with the gang in Canberra. P.S. Alera was impressed with your Barry Hall like impression on the game. Tough footy Sall and some awesome tackles, keep it up! Love ya, Sam.

Reidy We are all proud of the Matilda's performance and especially your workload and contribution Sally. It wasn't necessarily a pretty game but you all did the job that Tom and all the rest of the crew expected of you. I'm booking my ticket to Germany now and will hopefully see a double celebration when you can have a glass or two of champers after the grand final. Well done to all and I can't wait to watch the game on Sunday. From Capital Football and Canberra United team. PS, don't forget to check out those quaint tea shops in the side streets of Chengdu and bring home some affordable and easy to pack samples of jasmine and green tea - I'm sure Col will appreciate it !!
