It was SUNNY today!
Yesterday we beat South Korea= We are through to the Semi's. Tomorrow- our remaining group match against China. Quick turn around= The Coaching staff have done their job, we are all well rested and raring to go.
Words cannot describe how your body feels when your team scores, no matter if your on the bench or out in the midst of it all. Adrenalin pulsates through your body, your heart rate escalates...then continues to race, the widest of all grins stretches across your face, your team-mates are experiencing the exact same emotion- clap, hug, bounce, dance, run in any which way (Kimmy Carroll) OR back flip- similar to Sammie Kerr's efforts :-) It is such an amazing feeling, one which I and I'm sure the girls would agree have only ever experienced in the sporting arena.
The question most people (being friends and family) have asked upon my return. "Why did you choose to go back to football?"... my response generally entails... "...nothing compares to the natural high you can achieve with all of your mates..." Yesterday afternoon was the perfect example.
I'm aware of the passion and desire people share for there paths in life. I share the same amount of respect for those pursuing their dreams and those who haven't yet figured it all out. Different things make certain people tick, right now for the girls here in China playing Football as a Matilda is what makes us tick.
The shear emotion experienced during game days I cannot even fathom in day to day life.I was standing alongside Dizee Alagich (Matildas retiree and now Assistant coach) in the dressing room before the South Korean match, i was curious as to how she felt. After chatting briefly i came away with an appreciation for the situation, as an outsider looking in. She reminisced and expressed the way she felt on game days and her inability to replicate that in her life post retirement. It was special to hear that come from her, and to share that moment, Dizee is an inspiring character.
Of course in order to experience these extreme highs, lows are always lurking in the background...we have all experienced our fair share of those too. I'm a firm believer (still mastering my ability) to feel every moment, to be in the now. Further enhancing my mind and body to feel these emotions in the rarest form. So that when it's your turn to feel, it's nothing but raw.
Big game tomorrow- It will be intense and the atmosphere will be incredible. Fun.
oh and as i mentioned above...It was SUNNY today...
Our Liaison summed it up this morning just before training, "The days smiling for us." That it is Leona...That it is :-)

Anne Gollan Sally, I am so very proud of you. Your reflections at the end of this blog are so true, real and inspiring. Just remember when the lows come they don't last forever and when the highs arrive the memory of them is sweet for years to come. Namaste, Anne
