It's Game day...

Our opening match against Vietnam.

How are we feeling? Ready!

Are we good to go? Yes!

Are we nervous? Yes... Because we care... What's a competition without nerves anyway :-)

We do have a very young squad- this was the topic of conversation over dinner a few nights ago. We were flicking through the tournament magazine and we have a lot of girls in the squad with very little international caps for the senior team. Although as a collective whole we have plenty of experience, so this certainly won't be an issue. The younger girls shooting through are fast and skillful, they bring a fresh new element to our team. The squad is in fine form and confident heading in to this crucial tournament.

We now have expectations on the world stage- as a result of past performances. Sometimes these 'expectations' can be dangerous but i know we can handle the added pressure.

As a 22 year old i have been around the national team set-up for almost 6 years now. Im a strong believer in that experience can only get you so far. We are young but we can all play. And ready to show the world. I believe in the younger girls as much as the senior players. Age has never really been a factor in my career, it's what your capable of doing and achieving- and prepared to do. I can sense that attribute in each and every one of the squad.

Obviously qualifying for the World Cup is our priority but why not win the ASIAN CUP too!!!

Over the next 12 days... Our fete for next year World Cup in Germany will be decided... Is this a daunting prospect... Yes... Will we handle the pressure. Damn RIGHT!!! Why... Because we believe and know what we are capable of achieving. We are representing our own Country. The Green and Gold. We are the "Never Say Die" Matildas!!!
