Charly's Travel Journal
Wow!I could do this for more than 3 days no problem. The boat is simple, but lovely, with lots of room to lie out on deck in the sun, and the Whitsundays are beautiful (as is the weather-we were lucky.apparently we've got perfect weather for this, which they've not seen for about a month!) The island we stay on at night is gorgeous too, and we even have nice rooms! I was put with 5 people from Hampshire, 3 girls on their gap year, and two of their boyfriends who had come out to visit for 2/3 weeks. One of the boyfriends is actually stuidying at BCUC,and I also met some guys from Marlow-small world!!I've met noone I know yet though.... We spent our days visiting Whitehaven beach, and islands with great reef snorkelling, and lazing on deck travelling between them. On the second day we visited Hayman Island to snorkel, and our skipper threw bread in the water, which made all the fish, including some really big ones, swarm around you trying to get to the bread. Was very cool. In the evenings we head back to the island for about 5pm to enjoy the pool, golf course, tennis courts or beach, and then at 7pm it's dinner and drinks at the bar, with lots of games and Karaoke. We had 60 people on our baot and 40 on the other,so it was a big,but very friendly group, and everyone agreed they could have easily done a week-long trip. So now, feeling rested and relaxed it's time to get on a bus to head down to Hervey bay, arriving at around midday on Saturday 29th.
Lots of Love xxxxxxx
