Today Ive explored the city centre myself.Orchard Road is very Westernised,but there are still quirks that make it Singapore.I had lunch in a lovely outdoor cafe and walked the entire length of Orchard close,taking the ocassional(!!!) look in a shop or two.I also wandered around some of the suburbs to see what life outside the city was like. Singapore have very good ideas i also noted.For one,they give you free umbrell bags to put wet umbrellas in.Secondly they...

This afternoon I was given a tour of Singapore, seeing amongst other things, Orchard ROad (singapore's answer to oxford street),China town, Little INdia, various temples, Botanical Gardens and the Harbour. What stood out most was the variety in culture and architecture in one place. For example there would be an elaborate temple between two modern hotels,and China Town is submerged in the middle of a modern 'docklands' area.... English is the first language here ...
