Week 8- Thailand (Bangkok) Day 3
Today we were up at 3.30am ready for our 6am flight back to Bangkok. It was Bradley's last day and we were meeting Katy (my sister!). Samui airport was quite crazy it was like a resort or shopping centre, it was more or less all outside! We arrived nice and early so we enjoyed complementary refreshments and managed to FaceTime mother B. The flight was really quick and we arrived into Bangkok for 7am. Obviously the boys were acting like small children in the airport and were playing football with my travel cushion, leaving us to get the bags! We decided to get the train to our hotel (this was the first time we got on a Tain while travelling) it was 2 different trains but stress free and only cost us about 100baht (£2).
The hotel Katy and Bradley had booked for us was amazing! We felt very out of place when we first turned up with our rucksacks in a tuk tuk. We checked in and headed to get some breakfast before we met Katy, I was so excited to see her. When she arrived we chilled in their room and made a bit of a plan for the day. Myself and Gemma wanted to go and see the reclining Buddha because we couldn't when we were here last because of Songkran. We were all quite tired so we decided to go straight out then come back to the hotel and chill by the pool in the afternoon.
The Reclining Buddha was really cool and a lot more impressive than I expected. It was gold in colour and was huge! We spent around 1 hour wondering around the grounds. We had to cover up inside so we were boiling! Once back to the hotel we all got into our swim stuff and headed down to the pool. The pool was amazing, it was an infinity pool looking over Bangkok. We all ended up having a nap by the pool which really helped us for our evening out. After a swim in the freezing cold pool (it was so refreshing) we went to our rooms to have a shower and get ready to go out. The rooms had an amazing deep bath so I decided to take advantage of it, although, I added slightly too many bubbles and nearly overflowed the bathroom!
Once we were all ready we went to the hotel bar for a complimentary drink and enjoyed listening to a man playing a grand piano with a lady singing! We planned to meet Maffo at MBK the shopping centre at 7 so we headed there and looked around the market and had some dinner. We ordered loads of different Thai dishes and shared them between us, so we had a feast! We then went to find a cab to sky bar. The driver thought we were going to fit 5 of us in a tuk tuk, this was very entertaining and we all ended up laughing in his face. We all scrambled into a cab with me on Brad's lap. God knows what we looked like when the 5 of us poured out of a car at the entrance of a really posh hotel. We went in a lift up to the 84th floor and when we stepped out it was incredible. We were all completely wowed by the view. There was a live band playing as we walked out and a beautiful bar and restaurant. It's the highest open air bar in the world. The view was breathtaking and the whole skyline was lite up. Katy treated us all to hangoverini cocktails (this is where hangover 2 was filmed). We spent a while taking in the surroundings and enjoying our last night altogether!
After we went back to our hotel and headed to the champagne bar on the top roof. We had another round of cocktails (I ordered Brad and Maffo a cocktail with sambuka and tequila in it and they were highly unimpressed). The bar closed at midnight so we all said goodbye to Maffo and headed to our rooms. Obviously Brad still had the task of packing his bag which is always a painful task to watch. So we had an amazing last night with Brad and Maffo and first night with Katy, pretending to be sophisticated.. Back to the backpacker lifestyle tomorrow!
