Week 18- Australia (Port Macquarie) Day 5
Toady we left Newcastle after breakfast to get the bus to Port Macquarie. Took a good couple of hours to arrive but when we did the bus was waiting for us to take us to the hostel. The hostel was quite small but nice. The manager ended up giving us a dorm room to ourselves which was lovely! After chucking the bags in the room he sat down with us and showed us the map of town. I fancied going on a wine tour so we managed to round the workers up and another guy staying at the hostel to go on a wine tasting trip. We went to this vineyard that was set on acres of land and they had horses there too. Once we arrived we went into the shop bit and started our wine tasting adventure. We tried various different wines, the first one we all really liked was a white wine which was fruity. Myself and Charlotte also like a sparkling rose called 'blanc de blanc' unfortunately our travelling budget limited us to not buying anything. We had a little break and went for coffee in the little restaurant next door overlooking some of the vineyard. Then we wet back and tried some Merlots. The guys from the hostel ended up buying a far few bottles though! But unfortunately we will have to stick to our box of goon.
On the way back from the vineyard we stopped at a golf course and there loads of kangaroos chilling there having dinner, They are so cute! A few of them had little joeys in their pouches which was cool to see. As it was dusk they were all out and eating. We took lots of pictures, some of them are right posers.
We then headed back. Me and Charlotte popped to Coles to grab some bits. We then came back and cooked dinner. We both really fancied some cheese and crackers now after wine tasting so we had some Camembert to start haha. I cooked enough pasta to feed the army so we gave the rest to another girl at the hostel (our good deed for the day). Can't get used to this cooking for 2!
We had our showers after dinner then went and sat outside with all the guests at the hostel and the workers and had some goon and chatted away before we called it a night! Good first day in Port Macqaurie :).
