So after leaving Chitwan early in the morning we drove for 7 hours to reach Pokhara at around 2pm. We all took a walk along the main street and down to the lake which could be seen from our hotel. We took a turn into a german bakery and sampled the produce yum! Then later in the afternoon we booked to go paragliding and to take the mountain flight in Kathmandu to see Everest. We had dinner in a local restaurant and then crashed out for the evening in preperation for our busy day ahead. Up at 4.30am (those early morning were getting all too frequent for my liking lol) and drove up Sarangkot to the lower viewpoint and then trekked for half an hour in semi darkness to reach the top. The effort was well worth it as the view was spectacular! We saw Annapurna (the mountain in the pic) it is one of the 14 8000metre peaks in the world. The early morning light on the snowy peaks was very cool and we stayed up top for half an hour to sit and watch the sun on the landscape. We then embarked on our trek down to the foot of the mountain, it was pretty steep but we were glad it was so cool as the temps would have been much hotter later in the day. From the bottom we took a jeep (all 7 of us squashed in) and travelled over super bumpy roads back into town. We made it down in good time so went back to our hotel for a quick nap and breakfast before our paragliding. The five of us paragliding from our group were transported back up Sarangkot to the launch site where we were suited and booted in our gear and met our pilots. Once ready you had to walk and then run in accordance with your pilots instructions and once off you had to sit in the harness and enjoy the ride. Paragliding was such a great experience, the wind is really intense at times but the sun was out and the view was amazing. Helen was even flying next to a large bird. My pilot did some acrobatics and the force on your body was unbelievable, we ducked and dived and then came in to land. We landed without a hitch and Helen followed. One poor person landed and disturbed a bees nest and another landed in the lake so we were thrilled that things went to plan. We were all taken back into town where we did our last little bit of shopping and then had dinner at a Tibetan restaurant. We decided to try the traditional dish of chicken momo ( little fryed dumplings) they were a big favourite!
