Hi all, a lot has happened since our last blog. We went to Angkor Wat which was good but our advice would be don't start at sunrise! It's not that spectacular and you end up too tired by midday to see anymore. Sunset would definitely be the best way to see the main temple. From Siem Reap we went to the south coast of Cambodia and stayed at Sihanoukville in a bungalow on the beach. We really enjoyed it down there as the weather was really warm, the beach was really nice and the sea was warm and calm enough to enjoy swimming in it.
We got caught up in all the business with Bangkok airport and that gave us an anxious few days. After presuming our flights were cancelled the airport re-opened the night before we flew so we had to jump on a bus to Phnom Penh and go to the airport as we couldn't get through on the phones. Our flights were cancelled so we had to put them back by 4 days so we spent a bit more time in Phnom Penh which turned out ok in the end.
We flew from there to Bangkok, then Bangkok to Koh Samui on Monday and everything went fine. But after discovering Koh Samui is like Tenerife with ladyboys we made a sharp exit the next day to Koh Tao on the ferry. We had planned on going to Koh Pha-Ngan first for the full moon party, but after a few stressful days we decided we both wanted to come somewhere quiet and chill out. We'll probably visit Koh Pha-Ngan once the party is over and the island, as well as the prices, have returned to normal.
The boat to Koh Tao certainly deserves a mention, as I'm sure the driver was trying to break the record. It was like being in a huge speedboat on choppy waters, and there were people being sick and crying all around us. Catherine felt dodgy at one point but came through it fine, as I did too. The girl next to me was being violently sick, crying, screaming and flailing her arms around. I did the decent thing and turned my iPod up full whack, and got through the journey with the help of my good friends Bon & Angus.
There's plenty more photo's from Cambodia to be put online but the problem is the weather is too nice to be sat indoors. We've got a mild day of the mid-20's this afternoon so we're going to go down to the beach and chill out. We hope that everyone is well and there's no frost bitten fingers in England!
