We've come to the end of our time in Vietnam and it's certainly been a mixed bag. We've seen some great places but the weather has been so on and off that it's put a slight downer on an otherwise great place. The biggest disappointment was having to miss Hanoi, and therefore Halong Bay, because of the floods and heavy rain. We've reached Nha Trang after an overnight bus journey from Hoi An. We really enjoyed ourselves there and would recommend Hoi An as it's a really laid back place set on a river (that floods every night due to the tide!) with an old town full of French colonial style buildings. The food is great there and it's nice to sample local cuisine after being in Laos where they put 5 Lao dishes on the menu surrounded by burgers, pizzas, pasta and roast dinners! Believe it ...

Hello from a wet and cold Vietnam. Our travels have seen us arrive in Hoi An today after probably the most testing time of our trip so far. We arrived in Vientiane, Laos on Monday and had a few days there. Vientiane is ok, but as a capital city it lets Laos down. The place is pretty dirty and run down in places but there's enough to do keep occupied for a day or two.
