Today I went to Manly Beach to meet Careen, who i met in Bangkok about a month ago now. She'd made a picnic, so we sat by the beach and ate that. Unfortunately it started to cloud over, and we got abit chilly. Took a walk round the bay, which is really nice, and the waves are HUGE. This is the first beach ive seen in Oz and it didnt exactly make me want to leap into the water... those waves were scary more than inviting. I took afew pictures but not enough to warrant an upload yet. Been tryin to work out what to do for NYE, i asked at the YHA reception to see where they suggest is best to see the fireworks. He blankly told me to look at the map, which ive done, and said he hasnt been here for 10 years and no one else at the hostel has been so they can help. HOW USELESS IS THAT?! i dont like YHA, i wish i hadnt wasted my money on membership or staying here to be honest. Afew people from my dorm are leaving today or tomorrow and i hope that some more fun and less noisey people arrive, perhaps people who actually want to do something and may be interested in going out for new years. At the moment im not really enjoying sydney, the bus journey today was rubbish as buses seem to have a whole inventive system which isnt described anywhere, and i only discovered it due to the helpful bus driver who explained everything! I'm totally getting the ferry/train everywhere in future. I've pretty much decided that sydney is too big for my liking, and too expensive, and well, most of the ppl ive met have been european and i distinctly feel im surrounded by tourists so i'll be off to Melbourne soon as i get the chance! Tempted to book my ticket there now actually... Maybe ill do a job search as well. It's abit frustrating being stuck here with not alot to do and not even being able to look for somewhere to live, or work, and also having not alot of money to do anything fun.
