Another yummy hotel breakfast then headed off to visit the Alcázar (palace) and gardens. The weather was back to normal sunny Spain.
Walked through El Centro which is the town centre and checked out a few shops. Hardly a boot to be seen just millions of sandals. Got Chris a couple more long sleeve T-shirts from H&M as he likes the white one we got so much.
Turns out the Alcazar and gardens is massive. Probably should have got audiotour here but there were some explanatory signs around and a fair bit of detail in the LP.
Was really impressed with the Alcazar. Similar to Granada's Alhambra palace (not surprising considering many of the same artisans were brought along to work on it) and there seemed to be more rooms decorated here than in Alhambra. Some massive tapestries too.
The gardens were extensive and lots of very friendly ducks wandering around. Chilled out in the shade of the gardens for a while.
When our tummys started rumbling we headed off through the rambling streets of Barrio de Santa Cruz in search of tapas and cervesas. Stopped in at one and sat down at table outside as we normally do and waited quite a while for a waiter to come out. Turns out you have to go to them at this one and order through a window bar. They even just put the food on the ledge and yell out to you and you have to go up and get it. We weren't that impressed with this style so only stayed for one beer then headed off back towards Alameda de Hercules as we know there's lots of places to choose from there and it's close to our hotel.
Had a couple of drinks and tapas at a place there then found an ice-cream place further along then headed back to hotel for early night as we have to get up super early as booked a cab through hotel reception to come pick us up at 6.30am to take us to airport!
