Caroline's World Tour
Today we are off on our sailing trip of the Whitsunday Islands. Two days on board a catamaran sailing the islands, with two nights in an island resort. Normally, I'd be ecstatic by now, but unfortunately, the weather has taken a bit of a turn for the worse. Yesterday's lovely sunshine interspersed with frequent showers has become constant, drizzly rain. Its still warm, but 8/8ths cloudy and very, very damp! Before we were worried whether there'd be enough room for everyone to lie on deck to sunbathe, now we're panicking there won't be enough room under cover! We're not on the boat for very long today, so we've got our fingers crossed that this will be the worst of it, and the sun will come back out tomorrow. Whitehaven Beach is supposed to be absolutely spectacular and we'd really like to see it in the sun! We should still be able to snorkel, although I'm now living in mortal fear of getting eaten if I do - I've a cut on my finger that keeps bleeding, and I'm worried a shark will smell the blood from 12 miles away and come along and snap me up!!
Airlie Beach has been nice, we spent the sunny part of yesterday sunbathing by the rather lovely lagoon. Apart from that, the most exciting thing to happen was the lizard that fell from the ceiling and landed on my head. I knew something had landed on me but I didn't know what it was - it wasn't until it crawled down my neck and onto my shoulder that I realised what it was!! Nice.
Anyway, we'll be off soon, and out of contact for a couple of days. Hopefully, when we get back we'll be full of fun stories from the boat - keep your fingers crossed for us!
