Caroline's World Tour
Hello to one and all from beautiful Foz do Iguaçu, the Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls. This is a truly spectacular place, I think we are all agreed that it is one of, if not the best, thing we have seen since we started our travels!
We arrived in Foz at 7.15 this morning, which was actually 6.15 cause the clocks went back. We'd had a 9 hour overnight bus ride from Curitiba which was not as bad as expected, although it did take me a while to get to sleep without the usual staring out the window to send me off! We'd thought we'd be exhausted but we were actually feeling surprisingly fresh, and decided to take advantage of that (and the fact that for once, the sun was shining!) and get over to the falls as soon as possible. We left at 8am, so got there before the hordes and before the real burning heat of the day arrived! We went to the Brazilian side (which is pretty much the view you can see in the photo) and we promise - it really is as spectacular as it looks! Absolutely stunning, we all stood there for ages on one of the walkways just staring at it all and getting covered in spray! Definitely a good way to spend a morning, and definitely a good idea to get it done early!
Spent the rest of the afternoon lazing in / by the side of the hostel pool - I know, how luxurious! In return for our little pool, we've got a room hotter than an oven, and a 20 minute hike through the compound to get to a bathroom, but hey, you can't have everything for less than a fiver a night! Planning to do the Argentine side of the falls tomorrow - another early start but a much longer day so might have to steer clear of the old caipirinhas tonight!
