Public (Bank) Holiday today as its the Queens birthday! Met up with Di and as it was a nice day we decided to go for a walkabout. We headed for Hyde Park which lead to Botancial Gardens and Mrs Macquaries Chair (lookout point across the harbour). Took some photos and there were museums etc along the way. We stopped at Mrs Maquaries chair and walked along the harbour to some others view points. In Botanical Gardens there were treess full of hundreds of Flying Foxes (bats)! They were flying around too! Took some photos. A little further round was some wild parcheets and cockatoo type birds that were massive! There were people feeding them and we were given some seed by a guy there and the birds just land on you and eat it! We walked along to the Opera House and had a walk around it and took some photos. Called home and spoke to Mum & Dad. Walked along the harbour and there was a street performer doing some stunts with a pole and a bike and juggling a chainsaw and knives etc. Nutter! We walked along the harbour to the bridge and up to Observatory Hill to have a look at the lights of the city. The hill lead down to Darling Harbour so we had a walk along there and we got something to eat . Then we walked along to The Pumphouse pub, serves every beer you could possibly imagine, renowned for having worldwide drinks. Had a drink and a chat in there and they had patio heaters inside the conservatory type bit and then all of a sudden the fire brigade turned up!! The patio heater had set off the fire alarm which was linked to fire station and they had rushed out sirens going etc!!!! They had to move the patio heaters and turn them all down! He He! We walked back up to the hostel and dropped our stuff in our rooms. I watched a bit of tv and got talking to Toni and a girl that had just arrived, Katie, and she's doing the same bus tour as me, Oz Experience, up the coast along the top, down the middle and along the bottom. Di came down and as it was her last night at the hostel tonight she was going down to the bar with some rooms mates, so i tagged along. Tim, irish guy, Amanda, canadian girl, Kerry, english guy and Jodie, the weirdest person on earth, american girl! We sat down there chatting and drinking. Came up when the bar closed and sat with Di whilst she had a fag outside the hostel and some lads came over to chat. An Auzzie guy was there too, he'd had a bad week, split with his girlfriend, lost hos house and his job! s*** happens! Went up to bed shortly after that.
