Right after leaving Laos on Thurday night (22nd of Oct) we took a long sleeper train ride on what I would like to call the roach motel!! Now after the Chinese trains this was a hole!! there are two chairs at each side of the carriage and the top bunk is hike ddown (like a compartment off the areoplane) and the bottom one is slided together using the chairs... IF ANYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT A LONG TRAIN RIDE THEN @@#$% YOU... as this was horrible... being tired and feeling moany and grumpy I couldnt sleep with the cockraoches running around (under my pillow!!! Arg) lucky this dude swappe dwith me so I was on a top bunk - if you know me you know I cant climb ladders...hate heights and dont do top bunks... I did!! However as they leave all the lights on I had the lights shining in my eyes... scarred the cockroaches were gonna fly at me and felt like I was going to fall off the tumbulent sleepertrain that I had a crap nights sleep and with the need of a number 2 adn not wanting to use the squatter (which i now know all the waste gets filtered onto the tracks... I was not a happy bunny)...
WE finally arrived in Bangkok at about 6.30am and had an hour to sort ourselves out for the morning tour... a boat ride up the river to see all the temples (yes more temples) and feed the giant fish that splash everyone - which would have been fun had I not have been a grump and had it not have been such a miserable day!
WE then went to the reclining bidda temple- learnt a bit about buddism (which is really interesting but being a monk sounds too hard... still not sure if enlightenment is worth all the effort)!! Plus in this holy temple one of our friends had her purse pickpocketed... made for a bit of a negative day and to be honest by about 12 midday I was hating bangkok and though why the hell am I using this as my hib cuty...
HOWEVER then lunch came and all was right in the world, we chilled out in the first hotel that actually had a pool, got some rest and got ready for a night out...the final night with our group :(
Ahh Ko san road - backpacker central is actually really cool and I think Bangkok is at its best at night...Patong beach X100 with lots of booze and places to go (and shop...ace!!). After a farewell meal and drinking night out it was a brillant way to end a pretty s***ty day!
Sat was spent in central bangkok me and Sio exploring before meeting our new grp at 6pm... and they all seemed nice enough...it did feel weird though so on the sunday we ended up joining all the people on our old group (before most moved on to their nezt adventure or went home) and we all had a big shop at chatuk market (the biggest best market ever!!! Ooops and another shopping trip - sorry mum!)...
WE made sure we were bk before 4.30 back with the group though for another sleeper train to changmai - same as the other train minus the cockroaches (and with a full belly) so I was MUCH happier :)
