Day 8: We had our meeting with distance learning yesterday to outline my school situation. So, I'm starting to learn a bunch of new things that relate to my trip such as Scorpions.
Heather and I also went geocaching. Ed wasn't too excited about it as we were. However, I think he’s coming around to the idea of being a pro geocachers like us.
We went to visit friends from 150 Mile House. We had a great dinner and lots of laughs.
Yesterday Heather and I went for a long bike ride to visit some friends from Quesnel. On our way back home, we were crossing a bridge. This bridge had a large gap of eroded cement which we had to take our bikes across. Heather hit something with her bike while taking it across the gap. We both heard a loud hissing sound. Long story short Heather ran over a rattlesnake with her bike!
Now I’m not just scared of Scorpions, Black widows but also rattlesnakes.
I have learned that wearing flip flops while biking in Arizona is not cohesive to my being.
Yesterday, we went to Tonopah to see Ed’s friends. I couldn’t help but be envious of their winter lifestyle, which includes riding everyday and having two arenas to use. This also consists of a few great horses.
After visiting we went for dinner. At the restaurant they forgot my pizza.
Tomorrow morning we are departing Maricopa. Then we are heading to Silver City, New Mexico then to Santa Fe. Our final destination is Denver, Colorado to watch a pro rodeo. While we are in Silver City we will be touring the Gila cliff dwellings.

Gran Thanks, Rooney. We love receiving your blogs and I'm printing them out and saving them. Sounds like you need to start wearing knee-high boots - Heather too. Your trip sounds wonderful and well thought out. It was good talking to you. We love you and miss you. Gran & Gramps xoxo
Nanny or THE Queen Geocaching was a big draw in the Borrego Springs and Ocotilla Wells CA areas too. Thousands came on the weekends to go out searching for medals that added to their status like boy scout badges. Most went on ATVs. So I didn't understand when back in Barnes Lake they were finding little prizes or a camera to take a picture of yourself and re-bury with the log entry. I have had a terrible cold and gave it to Simmone. It hit me harder probably because of the last few months of stress. I haven't had a cold or flu since 2004 so this has been a shock. The sore throat broke this morning so I am on the mend but I hate not being able to breathe properly. We had new snow last night so my walk today down the drive was like a trip through fairyland with sparkling diamonds everywhere. My camera won't capture it properly. Did Heather tell you about the rattlesnake who caressed her on Elephant Mt.?
Mom Sounds like your having a great time... Minus the scorpions, spiders and snakes! Love seeing the pictures and glad we made a plan with the distance learning! Miss you kid... But so excited for your adventure! Love you.. And hopefully we can FaceTime this weekend, missing your face! XO
