What an amazing place.
At first, I did wonder what I had struck ...
But it is amazing.
First and foremost, the Wifi is down so you may get the words, but pictures will have to wait.
Shame really ... they will tell a story.
I think the ceiling must be 15 feet high.
I just stood up and it is easily 3 times my height.
The mirror is a bit high ... I can see the top of my head in it.
So funny.
Bathroom mirror is fine though.
After an easy train trip from Florence, I arrived in Rome.
And was promptly taken for a ride by a shonky taxi driver.
He was not an 'accredited' taxi driver, I don't think.
Anyway, we arrived at the Hotel Domus Sessiriana.
We had a fight about the cost.
He won.
Anyway ... couldn't get into my room until after 2pm. It was noon now so I changed and left my gear at reception.
The forecast was 26 degrees and 87 per cent humidity.
I put on cool clothes.
And off I went, walking to Rome's Colosseum!
Not a bad walk ... about 1/2 an hour.
Past old stone walls and ruins.
Arrived.
Walked to the ticket place.
First in line for those who had ordered on line.
Exchanged my voucher for a ticket and back to The Colosseum.
Huge crowds everywhere.
Joined in and walked straight in.
Now imagine that outer ring of the MCG, when you are inside and just walking around to find the steps up to your seat.
Just like that ... ( but a lot older! )
Well, I showed my ticket and walked past the longest line of people queuing up to buy a ticket.
It just went on and on and on.
So then I get to a turnstyle, insert the ticket and the red light goes off.
Nope.
It's 1.24pm.
I have to wait til 1.30pm.
Not that hard.
Funny though, I was standing with 2 young men as the same thing had happened to them.
We chatted.
Then, when 'Apple' told us it was 1.30pm away we went.
No.
'Apple' is slightly out of sync with the Colosseum clock.
We waited and chatted some more.
OK ... In you go.
Amazing place.
Sunny day.
Couldn't have been better.
Took loads of photos.
And had a wonderful time exploring.
Walked for miles and miles and miles ...
And miles.
Back and checked in.
Bed now ...
And it is 6.40pm.
Travel wears me out.
In case this loads with no Internet ...
Andrew have a ball in China!
