We were up at 6.15am and on our way at 7am.
We walked the wonderful quiet streets to Notre Dame.
Arrived just after 8am.
There was no one at all in the square and we walked straight in.
Barely a dozen people inside, apart from the service up near the front.
We wandered quietly around, just in awe of it all.
It is simply Amazing.
Then wandered the gardens and walked down the whole island.
Crossed Pont Neuf.
And walked towards the Louvre.
A hop on hop off bus stopped and we climbed on.
Onwards up the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triumphe. We walked through the tunnel under the crazy roundabout and headed for the ticket booth.
Oh... Turns out you only go here if you have tickets already.
(Shades of my bus tour thinking there.)
Back down the tunnel.
Bought tickets.
Then decided to eat first.
A nice cafe in the Champs Élysées for pizza and lasagne.
Then the climb up the Arc De Triumphe.
( I liked the lift better.)
Great view but a little hazy.
Could make out the Eiffel Tower in the mist.
Back on the bus to the Eiffel Tower.
Looked at the view from the Trocodaro.
And then walked to the tower.
Hmmm.... Nutella crepes.
Hi Brooke and Meagan.
OMG. Could live on those.
That was the straw that broke the camel's back, I think.
(Cast you mind back on what I've eaten this past 24 hours.)
So we are on the lawn looking back up the Eiffel Tower.
Old 'steady on her feet' is fast asleep beside me on the lawn.
She's having a short 'power nap' so we can go again.
Not bad lying here looking up at the Eiffel Tower.
Just have to repeat that.
Not bad lying here on the lawn looking up at the Eiffel Tower.
Magic!
Watched the hawkers grab their bundles and run from police on push bikes. I think the police were just playing with them.
Wandered around and gazed up a lot. Then left the maddening crowd and caught the metro back to the hotel.
