...we bought pills to alleviate symptoms of altitude sickness; funnily enough, apparently they're intended by the manufacturer for the treatment of glaucoma, inability to pee and epilepsy, nothing else; somehow, they got proven in the field of mountaineering and they are supposed to work; we got them over the counter of course
...we realized we had forgotten to mention we had found some traces of Poland in Calcutta: Gillette razor refills with a sticker "Manufactured in Łódź" (cheaper than in Poland, too :) ) and a poster advertising a Jerzy Grotowski retrospective in local theaters
...also in Calcutta when visiting a park around the Victoria Memorial no sooner had we sat down to rest in the shade than we were overwhelmed by throngs of tourists greedy for a snapshot with us, maybe two, well ten at the most, and actually mostly with Kama to tell you the truth; when after ten minutes of posing, my facial muscles - unaccustomed to so much smiling - went sore and the end was nowhere in sight, once again we realized that India's population truly is 1.2 billion and made off to the safety of the street. Also later at the Delhi airport we were in the limelight again
...we failed to find a baggage storage room at the New Delhi train station only to be made aware that we should be looking for a 'cloak room'; from then on it was dead easy; well, almost, because a valid ticket is required to deposit a bag but an old one proved to be enough

...we were overjoyed that despite the pan-Indian policy of not letting anyone into an airport terminal building earlier than 2h prior to the flight (domestic) somehow the guard took pity on us or overlooked the time and we could relish the air conditioned building while waiting for the 5a.m. flight
...even more so that the domestic terminal hall has a "silent zone" policy - no flight announcements over PA (!)
...we learned from a local paper that on the day we spent in Delhi a man killed his roommate over a loan of 150 rupee (€2) the former couldn't repay and that a motorcycle driver was shot at in a parking lot because apparently he took too long to park

Yugzfiftytwo Interesting alternative to the French "room of lost steps" (salle des pas perdus) which is in each station
