Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
We arrived in melbourne on Tuesday, and the first stop was of course Ramsey Street. We wasnt able to drive up the street as they were filming, and we got to see Toadie been filmed walking across the street. We stayed the night at Craigs cousins, who only live round the corner from Ramsey street. It was nice to get somewhere homely again and enjoyed some home cooked food.
On Wednesday we set off to drive the Great Ocean Road. First stop was Torquay, surfing capital, and the famous Bells beach, where the oldest surfing competition takes place. Its also where Quicksilver and Ripcurl surfing brands were born. The drive was fantastic, right on the edge of the coastline. Endless beaches and blue sea. We kept stopping off at all the small towns along the route. In Anglesey we stopped off at the golf course which is home to over 1000 kangaroos. So more photos, funny seeing them on the fairway and the golfers playing past them. Further along the coast we stopped at kennett river where a track takes you through a forest full of wild koalas. They are so cute, sat up in the trees fast asleep. They sleep 19 hours a day, but we were lucky to find some that were awake and playing in the trees. They make a funny grunting noise, and also seemed to look right at you. Some were really low down and close enough to touch.
We stayed over night in Port Campbell just up the road from the famous twelve apostles, as pictured above.
On Thursday we explored the last section of the Great Ocean Road wheer the coastline becomes even more dramatic and rugged. We stopped off at Lochard Gorge, where we had a private gorgeous cove to ourselves. The gold colours of the rock seemed to shine against the blue sea and sky. We then drove the 5 hour journey back to melbourne where we stayed for the next couple of days.
