Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
On Sunday we got our hire car and left Sydney bright and early, typical clear blue skies today! We drove to the Blue Mountains, where there are no mountains, but a huge canyon. The area is known as blue mountains due to all the eucalyptus trees which give off a blue mist. We were surprised how impressive it was, the canyon was huge.
We then headed to canberra for the night. Canberra is a bizarre city, very much a man made place, all the streets laid out symetrically. We arrived late last night so we had a quick look round this morning. We went to the parliment buildings where we were able to wander round, and went onto the roof to get views of the city. Here you can see the strange layout of the streets below. We then headed across to the War memorial which had a huge museum inside.
We then hit the road again after 500km yesterday we managed another 500 today and have ended up in a town called Albury. On the way we drove through the Snowy Mountains minus any snow in the baking 30 degrees heat. Atleast we got to see loads of Kangaroos which made the drive worthwhile. There were loads near the side of the road huddled under trees in the shade. They made a run or hop for it when we stopped to take a look! It was funny as they would look at you for a while then hop off, stop, look at you again then carry on hopping.
