Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
Drove to Jasper, 2 days drive stopping overnight in Kamloops. The drive from Whistler to Jasper passed through some contrasting scenery. Tree covered mountains, snowy peaks, then desert landsscapes with salt flats. Stopped at our first glacier lake, don't worry loads of photos of these, but you can't really believe the colour till you see it for real. We stopped off at 3 impressive waterfalls, and also spotted our first wild black bears, luckily in the distance. Chased by physcho lorry drivers on the roads, and Craig was too scared to get out at the UFO exhibition in a little town we drove through. Passed the snow covered Mount Robson, the highest mountain in the rockies on route into Jasper. Jasper was a really nice little place in the middle of nowhere, more olde worlde than whistler. Stayed 2 nights in Jasper. Went to Maligne lake for a boat trip to spirt island, which is a famous photo of rockies, then varius canyons with more waterfalls. Plus another black bear at side of road, plus deer and long horn sheep. Didn't do any long walking trails more than 30 mins limit as Jill too scared of bumping into bears in the trees, honestly there are loads of them and you are told if you spot one either lay on floor and play dead or fight back! So we did the sights that were within easy running distance back to the car. Another outside hot tub to relax in at night.
