Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
Sorry for delay in updates struggled to get on net while in Rockies. So here we go. Our first stop from Vancouver was Whistler. Which was a lovely drive up the coast, on the sea to sky highway, passing through some nice little villages on the waterfront. Even passed people scuba diving in the crystal clear water. Stopped at Shannon Falls which is 3 times higher than Niagara, although not nearly as impressive. Checked into the wonderful Delta hotel in Whistler, the worlds biggest hotel suite, although it was the washer/dryer in the room that swung it for us. Mmm clean socks and pants at last!! Had more lovely blue sky and sunshine, with snowy peaked mountains. In summer Whistlers ski resort is taken over with hikers and mountain bikers who bike down the slopes over ramps, nutters! Don't worry i didn't attempt any more extreme sports while still nursing my bruised cheek. In Whistler we were able to go up the gondola up Whistler mountain, and then a ski chair right to the top of the peak, a scary 10 min ride, feet dangling over the rocks below. At the top 7200ft high up we got a amazing view of all the surrounding mountains, and our first taste of snow and a glimpse of a green/blue glacier lake. Did a gentle hike around the top of the mountain, then after all the excercise headed to our heated outdoor pool and hot tub to relax. Whistler was a really nice little place, imagine its even better when its covered in snow.
