After our camper kettle handle snapped off whilst I was making my much needed cup of tea, our first mission of the day would be to purchase a new kettle. As we were up pretty early, before anyone else in the car park actually, we thought we'd go for a little wonder. We ended up at the harbour side and sat there for an hour with our books whilst we waited for the library to open.
At 9.30am on the dot, we arrived at the library as it opened. We spent half an hour or so researching wine tasting tours as we were really keen to do one whilst in Marlborough- world famous for its Savingion Blanc wines! After finding what we felt was the best option for us, we booked and paid for the tour for the 16th December, our last full day in the South Island. I was really looking forward to it.
After stocking up with more supermarket food and petrol, we set off on our 45 minute journey to Kaiteriteri beach, along the coastline just south of Abel Tasman National Park. We spent the day chilling on the beach with our books and a picnic. After a few hours, the weather changed quite suddenly to overcast with a strong cold wind. The weather here does seem fairly temperamental, and can change quite drastically over a short space of time. As we were in our shorts and t-shirts, we decided to call it a day on the beach and head onto our stay for the night, 'Bethany Campsite'. It was 41 dollars for the night with power, and unlimited wifi- an absolute dream!
We cooked dinner and chilled for the night, reading up on things to do in the North island and also Fiji. We were keen to do one of the Abel Tasman walks tomorrow, so we powered up everything we could, and hit the sack for a good nights sleep.
