Continuing from yesterday. We went out for a meal at a restaurant serving traditional food and for a starter Joan had a king prawn with smoked salmon, see photo. We followed that with Venison stew, very nice. Today we went on a tour of the city, then we went on a boat ride round the harbour. Another day largely spent on the coach but not as tiring as yesterday. We made a later start which meant longer in bed. We drove initially to Cape Aghulas the most southerly point of Africa and where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans officially meet. Overnight storm meant overcast skies which were perfect conditions for the long boring coach trip that lay ahead. The landscape on this stretch consisted by and large of scrubland and empty fields with occasional cows and sheep. By the time that we arrived at our final destination, a small fishing village called Arniston, the skies had cleaned and the Sun was shining. After lunch we walked through the village, along the coast and has a paddle in the Indian Ocean....

After yesterdays exhertions we were able to have a lie in before the coach took us in to Knysna for a look at the local shops, which were quite boring. However we passed the time having a coffee followed by an ice cream whilst sitting comfortably overlooking the harbour. In the afternoon we went for a boat ride across the harbour to the Featherbeed. We left Port Elizabeth at about 9.30 for a 2 hour drive to Storms River. We stopped for lunch but the real attraction was a long boardwalk trek up and down a large number of steps for about a mile to a swinging suspension bridge over the mouth of the river. Hard work but worth it because of the view and the sense of achievement.
